YFM’s managing partner explained his work nowadays and reminisced
about his times as a football player and as Academy director at
Sporting Clube de Portugal.
Diogo Matos, managing partner at Youth Football Management (YFM), was interviewed at Channel 11, the Portuguese FA (FPF) TV channel, having the chance to explain the importance and merits of his enterprise and the certification process. “My way of working, given my education in
Business and Administration, but also my experience and football
background, made me bring the management principles to football. At
the Academy, when we were leaders, we decided to be evaluated by an
external agency and we applied to ISO9001, a project I was responsible
to deploy”, the former player said.
Diogo Matos reminisced about his times as Sporting player, not only at
his times as a youth player, but also in the first team, where he got
the opportunity to win both the portuguese League and the Cup in
2001/02. “I was part of a fantastic group and, after 18 years,
Sporting remains without winning the League”, he said.
During his football career, nowadays YFM’s managing partner was also
worried about school and he graduated in Business and Administration,
later getting a masters degree in Sports Training. These “tools” had a
relevant contribution shaping the YFM methodology.
Diogo Matos also had experience as a member of the European Clubs
Association Youth Task Force, strengthening the youth football
development in the global strategy of clubs.
The certification process of academies was the first project where YFM participated. Along side with the Portuguese FA, after five years of hard work, conceiving and implementing this process, Diogo Matos is proud to announce that almost 1000 clubs are connected to the process in order to contribute to increase the level of our clubs and, consequently, our players around the country.
